Home to the Latvian War Museum, the Powder Tower (Pulvertornis) is a fourteenth century structure (rebuilt in the 1620s) adjacent to the Old City Walls and close to the Swedish Gate and Bastejkalns Park. The original purpose of the Powder Tower was to store gunpowder.
